It's that time of year again, time for ghosts and ghoulies and plenty of treats from vendors across the grid. I've been collecting some of these treats this week and decided to show them all in one entry.

 First off we've got these adorable ghost jack-o-lantern earrings from Virtual Impressions. These are in a big box between the landmark giver and group joiner sign near the stairs and are completely free.

 For those of you silks lovers, Solange has put out the Halloween Silks from last year's lucky chair out for free. For those of you who aren't completely familiar with the layout of the shop, use the in-store teleporter to go to the Streetwear section of the shop, the silks are on a wall near a really cute pumpkin display.

 Need a battered, bloody and bruised skin? Head to Aldegan Designs for this 1L skin.

 This adorable hair, including the pumpkin hat, is available for 1L at Filigreemotion.

 These two witchy outfits are available at Cherrie's Designs. On the left is Sexy Candy Corn Witch, it includes the hat, broom, and shoes for free. On the right is Sexy Neko Witch, includes the tail (which has adorable detailing at the base, but I couldn't get a good picture), ears, shoes and a hat for 1L.

 Bliss Couture has this lovely pumpkin colored baby doll dress available to everyone for free. Join the group and get the Pumpkin Dress below for 1L.

 Dernier Cri has this Zombie Avatar for free ... complete with shape, outfit, boots, hair, two pair of eyes and three skins. They've also set out the Bumblebee costume from last year for free. The Bumblebee costume (shown below) also includes the hay bale and pumpkin.

 All of this stuff was still available when I double checked as posting this entry. I'm assuming they'll all be available until Halloween, but I could be wrong (it's been known to happen on occasion :-P)

Over in the land of Paladian, there's a little shop called Aissence, and outside Aissence, there's a red maple tree at 27/167. It may not seem like much at first glance, but step between its sheaves of autumn leaves, and photographic magic can happen!

The tree's leaves are alpha textures on flat (but flexi) prims; this is what makes stepping between them so sweet. In that spot, there is at least one sheaf of leaves to either side. Dressed in her neko Halloween finery, LadyBlue posed for a couple dozen pictures between the red leaves.

From one camera angle, the background nearly fills with the blue of the adjoining river, offering a pleasant counterpoint to the reds and oranges. From another angle, a garden of flowers fills in the background space; while from yet another, there's an explosion of autumn colors from decorative seasonal items scattered around the parcel.

The few Windlight adjustments I made retained the red of the leaves and modified only the sky or time of day. The best shots were achieved with the camera at some distance, using several levels of Ctrl + 0 to zoom closer to my model. The ideal here is to find a place to aim which frames the model with leaves both behind and in front of her. It offers the impression of an endless cascade of falling leaves, and with a little luck, you can capture a pseudo depth-of-field effect.

While you're at this location, you might also find a Dark Kat or a purple Twisted hunt box. Have a look around the shop and maybe leave a few lindens. You could spend some time playing on the dance balls at the south end of the parcel; there are some fun ones! Even the yard decorations are for sale, and some of them might also provide photographic opportunities.

Vinyl Cafe is hosting a Halloween Trick or Treat hunt over four sims on the grid. When I say hunt, I say it with tongue in cheek, as the most you have to hunt is participating shops. You're looking for candy bowls, most of which are out in plain sight. However, not all shops on the four sims are participating, so you have to wander the sims and hunt those participating shops. Find the candy bowl and click on it. You'll be given a menu choice that includes the hunt gift and several choices of candy. Some of the shops are participating on all four sims, other shops only on one. Sims involved are: Vinyl Cafe and Shops (mature sim), Halloween (mature sim), The Dominion Fashion District (adult sim), and Dominion Femdom Fettish Shoppes (adult sim). Below are some of the fantastic gifts you can get from this hunt. The hunt is going on until November 1st, so there is plenty of time for you to get to all four sims.
